Ultra Radness

So I'm just brainstorming, trying to come up with a cool name for my sketchbook that I am gonna put together for the San Diego Comic Con ( A month away! Yikes!!!)

Anyways, I was thinking, this book is gonna be COOL, it's gonna be RAD, it's gonna be ULTRA RAD... ULTRA RADNESS!!!  Oh s#it, "Ultra Radness" would be cool for a title and I had this immediate visual of Ultra Magnus surfing on a wave of Energon!  I was excited about the image and the title and so I went to my wife and pitched her the whole concept and she said "Who is Ultra Magnus?"

"WHO is Ultra Magnus?!!" I exclaimed, "Why he was the leader of the Autobots and was hand picked by Optimus Prime to lead and take the Matrix of Leadership!!!"

She said," No one is going to know that." She argued that the X-Men stuff that I had drawn will be more known and only a handful of people will get this joke...  Begrudgingly, I agreed.  So I'm still searching for a title for the sketchbook.

I still like the concept, so I drew it out and now I am calling this piece- "Ultra Radness".  To the handful of guys who get the joke, I salute you and I hope that you guys dig the piece.  To the rest of you, go and see the animated TRANSFORMERS movie!  It is truly a classic and should not be missed.

I've been cleaning up my office this morning and I found this file.  This was my sketch (all digital) that I was planning on making an original art piece to.  Hopefully, if I can find some time, I will.  My intent was to  do this as a marker piece and donate it to a Japan charity event, but there is a cynical part of me that thinks I should just do a Wolverine piece set in Japan and that would get more interest...  

Oh well, I've been too busy to do either piece, but I thought I would just share this drawing with you guys.  Happy Monday everybody!
